Drupal, WordPress, and connected tools: choosing your website platform

A platform decision should begin with the work your website needs to support. A small publishing site, a service business with several markets, and a portal with private client records can have very different requirements. A familiar product name is a starting point for questions, not a complete project brief.

Write down the needs that affect the choice

• Content: which page types and relationships will your team maintain?
• People: who edits, approves, publishes, or accesses private information?
• Connections: which forms, CRM tools, storefronts, or other systems need to exchange information?
• Change: what will your team need to update without a developer?
• Ownership: who will handle maintenance, documentation, and ongoing support?

Distinguish a current requirement from a possible future idea. This makes it easier to compare a practical first release and the cost of maintaining it, rather than selecting the largest feature list.

Use platform pages to frame a discussion

Other tools have different roles. The n8n page relates to connected workflows; Cloudflare relates to site delivery and protection; and Screaming Frog relates to examining site structure. These are not interchangeable replacements for the system that manages your website content.

Compare the whole working arrangement

Ask what will be documented, who controls the accounts, and how your team will test a change before release. Bring those answers into a web development discussion alongside the initial build requirements.
